This is where I’m going to add all sorts of templates that you can help yourself to! Have patience, there is much more to come. 🙂

To start off with, by popular demand, here is the template for one of my eBooks and the 3D book covers that I use for both the free cookbooks I giveaway to new subscribers and also for eBooks that I sell.

PowerPoint eBook Template

This is the PowerPoint template I used for my Fast Prep, Big Flavors eCookbook that I give away for free to new subscribers. You can download the template here.

Powerpoint eBook Template Graphic

I’ve tried Adobe In Design, Powerpoint, Word and Pages (Mac equivalent of Word) to create eBooks. You can read more about my thoughts on each of these in this post – The Simple Way To Create eBooks.

While I think that Pages produces the highest quality document for the relative file size, I think it lends itself better to documents with more text than typical cookbooks. It was perfect for The Food Photography Book. However, for eCookbooks, my preference (currently) remains as PowerPoint. Pages has some funny bugs with text overlays and images moving around for no apparent reason.

Note: The ebook is landscape but the cover is portrait (so it looks like a book). PowerPoint does not let you use different orientations within a single file. So I just created the cover in a separate file, converted them both to PDF then merged them together into a single document.

Don’t forget to compress images! I compress them to “best for email” size to minimise the file size.

Download my PowerPoint eBook template here.

File format: Photoshop

To use: Open the file in Photoshop. Drag your book cover into the file. With your photo selected, right click and choose “Skew”. This will let you drag the corners of your image to fit within the 3D book cover.

Nagi, thank you SO MUCH for this template! I’ve been blogging for less than three months and your template and blog post made the overwhelming idea of putting together an ebook a little less daunting. I’ve recently joined the FBC on Facebook and can’t wait to learn more! Thanks again!

Hey thanks for great template. i cant wait to get started. Can i ask where you get all your photographs from? Are they just pictures you took of food you made or are some of them sourced online. if so. where? thanks!

This is not working, Amazon Kindle dissects the layout completely and does not look at all like what the powerpoint file does. I thought one page of the PP will be one page on the Kindle or on my iPad.

Hi Nagi- First, thank you SO much for all of your insight, templates and general help, specifically with putting together an eBook. I used your powerpoint template and it worked brilliantly. I have an .jpeg of the cover ( I didn’t use your template as I currently don’t have photoshop) but I’m not sure how to merge it with the book once they’re both in .pdf form. I was wondering if you might be willing to offer some insight or point me in the right direction to find some. Thank you!

Nagi, thanks for all the time and effort you put into supporting foodbloggers everywhere. You are so generous to share with us tips, tricks and templates. An ebook has been on my to-do list forever and this may give me the nudge I need to get ‘er done. 🙂

Nagi- I’m having trouble playing with the 3D Book cover template in Photoshop. It opens with your photo in place and not sure how to clear out your photo. What at the steps in Photoshop to open my photo to drag into this template. The instructions are not clear on that. Thanks!

Hi Brenda! You should just be able to highlight the photo and then press Delete. Otherwise if you go to the sidebar and find my photo in the layers, right click and choose “replace”. 🙂

I was just thinking about this, learning to make an ebook, just seconds ago; then this showed up in my inbox ( feels creep out, actually or serendipity? ) but so thank ful.
